ScoutMy dog and I are on a cross-country trip, on foot, on our way to NY, IL, IA, etc...with our final destination being California. We needed a safe place to sleep, and though this place doesn't rent tent spots, the people here (residents and visitors) have been very friendly. Rasa (doggo) and I weren't supposed to stay here in a tent, but we did and everyone here have been very friendly and understanding. The lake is beautiful and so are the people. Love this place. Too bad they don't cater to tent campers. I was willing to pay whatever just to have a safe place for Rasa and I for the night, but, alas, we had to sorta sneek in. Still, we received no trouble and, man, what a lovely morning!
ScoutWe do lots of walking, so this campground has many drives to walk. Takes no time at all to walk a mile plus without going the same drive. Many shaded sites, lots seem to be seasonal. Showers and restrooms are spaced apart for sections of grounds. Very hilly, some sites are unlevel, so additional blocking helps. Only 2 dump stations, but, there is a honey wagon service that quite close and very reasonably priced.

Scoutbig plus on the clean facilities(a must after a long hike😅) and the South Toe River sounds like a perfect spot to relax. I don’t mind the lack of cell service— sometimes it’s nice to truly unplug. Definitely adding this to my shortlist!

ScoutLovely camp, Doe River runs through so fly fishing is available. husband did catch a rainbow trout near group tent sites. Several small brookies near the history center.
ScoutA nice little campground off the beaten path. Sited are pretty small, barely fit our van. Bathroom and showers are sufficient. T Mobile service is pretty slow. Very beautiful area!
ScoutGreat for kids and dogs!! Spots are a little hard to find if you aren’t familiar, and there is no septic at each site, but other than that, it’s exactly what you’d expect. Long term and by night rentals. Food trucks on bigger holidays!

We stayed in site 8 and it was one of the few sites that did not have much shade cover but other wise no complaints! Bathrooms were clean and maintained!
