GuideI had to drive down to this campground because our camp hosts were staying here instead of at soapstone. As I drove through there’s plenty of shaded areas but the campsites looked small. If you have a tent bigger than a 4 person, check the site to make sure you won’t be hanging off the pad or at an angle.
GuideWent to the day use area and it was great. Toilets available, multiple picnic tables which included fire pits and a place to put your camping stove or other provisions. Nice 2.1 mile hike around the lake before heading back, areas were still soggy with lots of mud.
GuideSpacious campsite but was next to the creek so the ground around the campsite was always damp. Not all campsites had that issue though. The camp hosts were staying 9 miles down the road at the time (June 11) so we had to backtrack to grab firewood from them. Buy your firewood in Kamas, it’s much cheaper and better burning.
GuideEach site has a lot of shrubbery that lends to a better sense of privacy. Kind of tight for trailers larger than 28’ to access, make sure you go the right direction on the one ways unless the hosts instruct to pull in backwards like we had to. Cool disc golf course and mountain biking trails cut through the campground. Be careful on trails, my fiancée had a run in with a wolf pup and my dog was thankfully on the leash at the time. Lots of cool wildlife!!
ScoutA lot of road noise and the 30amp electric did not work at our site, site 151. Front office was closed and no one returned our call when we called the number provided. Bathrooms are okay. Pools had very warm water on an already hot day… we decided to go swimming in nearby echo lake and wished we had reserved to camp there as we ended up dry camping anyway.
ScoutAlmost made it all the way in my outback wilderness, but a tree was felled and hung over the road low enough that my rooftop tent couldn't pass under. This was about a half mile away from the lake. Any taller vehicles wouldn't be able to make it up. Hiked the rest of the way and spent the day fishing. The trout were very active midday into the late afternoon. The only other people that came up were riding UTVs.
TravelerThe sites are a little close and it is a very family friendly campground. It is a really fun campground though! We rode bikes and paddle boarded. Gets extremely busy on weekends but nice and quiet on the weekdays. Checked in on a Wednesday afternoon for FCFS site. Plenty open.
