TravelerDefinitely a cute little spot a bit on the hilly side so if you're looking for level sites there are only a handful. Plenty of access to pit toilets and water pumps, a few areas for access on the small lake but for sure I think site 25 is the best
TravelerGreat views, plenty of campsites, definitely many along the water. However the mosquitoes are quite rough. If you plan on doing any of the hiking trails you'll definitely need a bug net by far none. Most of the canoe and hiking sites look like they haven't been touched in a long time likely due to the remoteness
TravelerWas able to snag a Saturday to Sunday on the last day they'll be open until October for repaving. Beautiful campground however I would definitely avoid the first loop as it's very open. The second and third loop are more tree covered and more traditional to what most state parks are in Michigan. Firewood is for sale pretty reasonable, clean dump station, great bathrooms, tons of improvements coming. No Verizon data service just about one bar to send text however Wi-Fi is near the office and in the day use and is quite fast. Great views and friendly staff
TravelerUnfortunately didn't get a chance to actually camp here But for 100% next time. Will advise for anyone wanting to bring a camper as the road is extremely washboarded. Would only recommend a trailer that has good suspension or something small and rugged. Be careful as Google maps can be misleading and trying to take you down a fire lanes that are not passable. Try to stick to the main wide roads. 4G with Verizon is available if you're on the beach on top of the sand dune. Roughly about three bars. But inside the campground do not as much. Currently mid June 2025 it's a little chilly keeping the black flies away
TravelerGreat location. Almost all sites on water. Verizon doesn't get data but at least one bar to send SMS messages. Please remember tagging sites is prohibited you must occupy the site. You can't just leave a chair. Mosquitoes weren't horrible but thankfully a cool June means no black flies yet.
TravelerThis is a small, no frills campground. It does have a million dollar view of Saint Mary’s River, and front row seats to the freighters traveling into, and out of the Soo Locks. It has 5 sites with water and electric, 35 and some 50 amp. Also has picnic tables and fire rings. There are no sewer hook-ups, or a dump station. There is WI-FI, but rather slow. The sites are grass, but over a firm foundation. My jacks did not sink. The campground is built on a small peninsula jutting out into the river. It is not very wide, so maneuvering room is at a minimum.
LegendHuge campground in a wonderful location. They have everything here- huge playground, pool, beach, great store, lots to do. The view of the lake from our site was spectacular. There is a beautiful grassy and rocky shoreline that is lined with fire pits for viewing the sunset and bridge lights in the evening. Very cool and communal in a good way. You buy your ferry tickets to Mackinaw Island at the camp store and it's 10 minutes to get there with boats leaving every 30 minutes. The island is amazing and worth a day of your life to ride around it on a bike and get some good food and fudge.
GuideState park campground, the sites are nice enough. Bath/Shower house is very well maintained, attending rangers and other staff have been hospitable. Surrounding area is beautiful, the falls are lovely, there's a brewery/restaurant in the park(although it's 30 minutes from the campground we're in). 20 minutes away is the Great Lakes shipwreck museum( if you're into history it's really cool). One thing to mention is the bugs in the UP in the summer are just overwhelming. There is a water fill station on the way into the campground.
TravelerWe have been coming to Loons Point for 3 summer visits. We have experienced nothing but superior service and support from the people who work here! It's not the fanciest but there's very good value for the price. You can't touch them in the area for a full hook up campground.
